Chinese Embassy Warns Citizens Over High Paid Job Scams in Thailand
BANGKOK, April 27, 2026 (KPT) — The Chinese Embassy in Thailand has issued a safety alert warning its nationals to be on guard against scams luring them to the Thailand–Myanmar border with promises of lucrative jobs or tour packages.
The advisory followed recent cases in which Chinese citizens were enticed by offers of “high paid work” or “group travel” and ended up trapped in illegal activities, including telecom and online fraud. Victims have faced confinement, violence and unlawful detention, the embassy said, adding that their lives and legal rights were seriously endangered.

Chinese visitors were urged to remain vigilant, avoid trusting information circulated on social media, short video platforms or instant messaging tools, and reject advertisements for “zero barrier overseas work opportunities.”
The embassy stressed that citizens should prioritize their own safety and, in emergencies, immediately contact local police or Chinese diplomatic missions in Thailand for assistance.
The warning comes amid a surge in cross border scams and fraud operations in Southeast Asia, with criminal networks exploiting vulnerable job seekers.
