Cambodia welcomes Gaza peace deal, reaffirms support for two-state solution

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.18, 2025) — Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Saturday welcomed a peace agreement aimed at ending violence in the Gaza Strip, calling it a “significant step” toward resolving long-standing hostilities in the region.

The agreement, signed Oct. 13 in Cairo, was brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

It seeks to end months of deadly conflict between Israeli forces and Hamas militants that has left thousands dead and deepened the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

“Cambodia commends the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump and all mediators for their tireless efforts in achieving this outcome, and hopes the peace agreement will pave the way for a lasting peace and a return to normalcy for both sides,” the ministry said in a statement.

The government also reiterated its support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and urged all parties to pursue dialogue in line with United Nations resolutions and international law.

At the signing ceremony, Trump called the agreement “a new chapter of hope and reconciliation in the Middle East,” and said peace requires “courageous leadership, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to a better future.”

Cambodia has long supported international efforts to promote peace in the region and called on all sides to avoid further escalation and prioritize the protection of civilians.
