TYDA Promotes AI-Driven Dental Innovation While Upholding Ethical Patient Care

PHNOM PENH, July 5, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Techo Volunteer Youth Doctor Association (TYDA) is promoting the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced dental technologies while stressing that ethics, professionalism, and compassionate patient care must remain central to healthcare services.

Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, Vice Chairwoman of TYDA’s Board, delivered the message at the opening of the Second TYDA Annual Dental Conference 2026, held under the theme “Advancing Excellence in Modern Dental Practice.”

In her remarks, Dr. Chanmony praised TYDA’s leadership and organizing committee for hosting the conference for a second consecutive year, calling it an important platform for dental professionals to exchange knowledge, explore emerging technologies, and strengthen collaboration.

She noted that, under the initiative of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, TYDA has consistently organized professional forums that encourage dialogue, knowledge sharing, and clinical experience exchange, contributing to improved healthcare services and human capital development in Cambodia.

Highlighting rapid advances in digital technologies, Dr. Chanmony urged healthcare professionals to embrace AI in diagnosing and treating oral diseases and other medical conditions. She cautioned, however, that while AI can improve diagnostic accuracy, accelerate detection, and enhance treatment planning, it cannot replace the professional judgment, ethics, and compassion of healthcare providers.

“Technology can help us diagnose diseases faster, more accurately, and develop better treatment plans,” she said. “But it can never replace the conscience, professional ethics, and compassionate care that doctors must provide to every patient.”

She emphasized that integrating AI into healthcare must ultimately ensure patients receive safe, effective, and accountable medical care.

Dr. Chanmony also encouraged participants to use the conference as a genuine learning platform, share knowledge with peers and younger generations, embrace innovation without compromising ethics, place patients at the center of care, and uphold TYDA’s spirit of volunteerism and humanitarian service.

The annual conference brought together dentists, medical professionals, academics, and healthcare experts to discuss advanced clinical techniques, emerging technologies, and best practices aimed at strengthening Cambodia’s dental profession.
