Cambodia recorded more than 4 million domestic and international air passengers from January to July 2025, a year-on-year increase of nearly 16%, driven by a rebound in outbound Chinese tourism and sustained regional demand, according to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.

“The strong growth reflects renewed momentum in Chinese outbound travel, stable demand from regional markets such as Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea and Japan, and the easing of travel restrictions,” said Sinn Chansereyvutha, secretary of state and spokesperson for the aviation authority.

He added that the recovery and expansion of airline capacity also played a critical role in boosting passenger volumes.

Cambodia’s aviation sector is entering a new phase of transformation, with the upcoming launch of Techo International Airport and continued expansion of the country’s international air network. Authorities aim to position Cambodia as a regional aviation hub aligned with global standards for safety, efficiency and sustainability.

Despite global fuel price volatility, rising operational costs and geopolitical tensions, Chansereyvutha said there has been no reduction in flight frequencies over the past six to 12 months. New route negotiations are underway with India, the Middle East and Chinese cities.

The aviation authority projects total passenger traffic to reach 7.5 million and cargo throughput to hit 80,000 tons by the end of 2025.
