PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Aug. 20, 2025) — Secretary of State Tekreth Kamrang co-chaired the second Project Steering Committee meeting of the EU-German Global Access and Trade Expertise (GATE) initiative Wednesday at the Ministry of Commerce, alongside representatives from the European Union and Germany.

All committee members attended the session, which reviewed progress across five key areas of the multi-year trade reform project. These included support for the development of trade policies and regulations in preparation for Cambodia’s graduation from Least Developed Country status, promotion of exports for target products such as cashews and pepper, and advancement of negotiations on an ASEAN Digital Trade Framework Agreement.

The committee also assessed efforts to strengthen enforcement of the Consumer Protection Law, improve trade facilitation, and enhance competitiveness for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Officials provided strategic guidance and issued recommendations to accelerate implementation across all components of the project, which runs through March 2028.
