Phnom Penh, Cambodia (Aug. 18, 2025) — CAMGSM Plc., Cambodia’s leading mobile operator, reported a 19% year-over-year decline in second-quarter profit as regional connectivity disruptions and intensifying competition weighed on performance.

Total comprehensive income fell to 14.95 billion riels ($3.65 million) in the three months ended June 30, down 3.51 billion riels from the same period last year, according to the company’s financial disclosure to the Cambodia Securities Exchange on Monday. Total assets stood at 2.65 trillion riels, marking a slight decrease of 0.4% from 2024.

Despite the earnings dip, Chairman Neak Oknha Kith Meng said the company demonstrated “resilience, agility, and unwavering commitment” to service quality amid external shocks.

“A major event that tested the resilience of Cambodia’s telecom industry, and CAMGSM in particular, was the necessary re-routing of internet connections from Thailand in June,” Kith Meng said in a statement. “By working closely with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and rerouting our international IP transit through alternative pathways, we ensured continuity of service for our customers nationwide.”

The company said mobile and data services continued to grow quarter-on-quarter, driven by rising demand for high-speed connectivity. CAMGSM expanded its 4G network capacity and launched new flagship products, including SIM YUK 9 and Data SIM, which gained rapid traction among consumers.

Value-added services also saw upgrades, with new roaming packs and exclusive offerings such as the MLBB pack and Learn Add-on contributing to customer engagement.

Looking ahead, CAMGSM said it will focus on infrastructure investment, seamless connectivity, and supporting Cambodia’s digital development goals.

“Our ability to adapt in the face of external challenges while continuing to innovate and grow gives us confidence in what lies ahead,” Kith Meng said.
