Cambodia–Vietnam Bilateral Trade Nears $5 Billion, Driven by Regional Shifts
Phnom Penh, August 13, 2025 — Cambodia and Vietnam recorded nearly $4.94 billion in bilateral trade during the first seven months of 2025, marking a 7.5% year-on-year increase, according to data from Cambodia’s General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE).

Cambodia’s exports to Vietnam reached $2.43 billion, up 10.4%, while imports from Vietnam totaled $2.51 billion, a 4.8% rise compared to the same period in 2024. Officials attribute the growth to shifting regional dynamics, particularly the impact of geopolitical tensions between the United States and China.
Lor Vichet, Vice President of the Cambodia-China Commerce Association, noted that Vietnam’s economic expansion has created stronger demand for Cambodian agricultural products. “Vietnam is increasingly sourcing from Cambodia rather than relying solely on domestic production,” he said.

Secretary of State for the Ministry of Commerce, Samheng Bora, described Cambodia–Vietnam trade as “deepening and multidimensional,” supported by ASEAN frameworks and a bilateral coordination agreement signed in April 2025. The agreement facilitates trade every two years and allows both countries to export beyond reciprocal arrangements under the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement.

Cambodia’s key exports to Vietnam include rice, rubber, cassava, bananas, corn, mangoes, and tobacco. Vietnam’s exports to Cambodia consist of construction materials, machinery, fuel, electronics, fertilizers, spices, and fresh produce.
