Lim Heng, vice president of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, said the growth was partly driven by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which has boosted regional cooperation and eased trade flows.

Economist Hong Vannak of the Royal Academy of Cambodia added that strong diplomatic ties have sustained investor confidence, noting Japan’s long standing presence in retail and electronics projects, including AEON Mall Phnom Penh.

In 2025, Cambodia–Japan trade reached $2.53 billion, up 17 percent from 2024, reflecting the expanding economic partnership.
