PHNOM PENH, Mar. 17, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Austria are seeking to strengthen bilateral investment cooperation to support industrial modernization and promote inclusive, sustainable growth, officials said Tuesday.

Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), met a delegation of 19 Austrian companies led by Andreas Sumper, Deputy Head of Mission of the Austrian Embassy, during the Cambodia–Austria Business Forum.

The forum, attended by representatives from ministries, the Cambodia Oknha Association and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, marked the largest ever Austrian corporate trade mission to Cambodia.

Organized to provide Austrian investors with deeper insights into Cambodia’s investment climate, the event also facilitated high level discussions with government institutions, laying the groundwork for new partnerships.

Chanthol highlighted Cambodia’s strengths as an emerging investment destination, citing its investor friendly legal framework, macroeconomic stability, young workforce and infrastructure development. He also underscored government efforts to improve the business environment, including measures to combat online scams and bolster investor confidence.

The forum is expected to boost business to business engagement, with both sides confident that increased Austrian investment will contribute to Cambodia’s industrial growth and long term development.
