Cambodia, World Bank Deepen Financial Cooperation

PHNOM PENH, Mar. 18, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and the World Bank have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening financial cooperation to support economic stability and sustainable growth, officials said Tuesday.

National Bank of Cambodia Governor Chea Serey met with a World Bank delegation led by Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific, to review ongoing collaboration and future priorities.

The World Bank highlighted Cambodia’s economic potential and progress in infrastructure development, while welcoming continued partnership. Serey underscored the banking sector’s role in promoting financial inclusion, exchange rate stability and resilience.

She also noted global uncertainties, including geopolitical tensions and oil price fluctuations, could weigh on Cambodia’s outlook, and praised the World Bank’s support for regulatory frameworks and national strategies.

Both sides pledged to deepen cooperation to promote sustainable development and maintain macroeconomic stability in the Kingdom.
