Air Cambodia seeks stronger connectivity with Japan
TOKYO, March 20, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s national flag carrier, Air Cambodia, is seeking to strengthen air links with Japan while boosting cooperation to promote tourism, trade and people-to-people exchanges, officials said Thursday.
The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Chum Sounry, Cambodia’s ambassador-designate to Japan, and representatives of Air Cambodia at the Royal Embassy in Tokyo.

Sounry underscored the role of airlines as key partners in facilitating bilateral relations and promoting Cambodia internationally. He highlighted the carrier’s contribution in showcasing Cambodian hospitality and culture, while offering competitive pricing and convenient routes for travellers from both countries.
The ambassador also urged the airline to enhance competitiveness by improving service quality, punctuality and reliability, in line with the expectations of the Japanese market. He recommended stronger marketing efforts and expanded partnerships with Japanese travel agencies to attract more passengers.
Sounry said Air Cambodia could play a greater role in promoting Cambodia as a tourist destination and engaging with the growing Cambodian community in Japan. He reaffirmed the embassy’s readiness to support the airline in strengthening air connectivity between the two countries.
