Cambodia secures up to $2 billion AIIB investment for infrastructure
PHNOM PENH, April 2, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia is set to unlock up to $2 billion in infrastructure financing through an expanded partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), with new focus areas including clean energy and sustainable development, officials said Wednesday.
The commitment was announced during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Aun Pornmoniroth and AIIB President Zou Jiayi, who was on her first official visit to Cambodia.

The engagement comes as both sides move to implement the Country Cooperation Framework 2026–2030, a roadmap expected to channel major investments into transport, water systems and sub-national infrastructure.
Beyond traditional projects, the partnership will emphasize energy transition and clean energy investment, reflecting Cambodia’s push to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and strengthen energy security.
Pornmoniroth said increased infrastructure investment was critical for maintaining economic stability amid global uncertainties. Jiayi reaffirmed AIIB’s commitment, highlighting readiness to accelerate project preparation and deploy climate-focused financing tools.
Cambodia, a founding AIIB member since 2016, has benefited from the bank’s support, including flexible financing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both sides voiced confidence that deeper cooperation will expand Cambodia’s infrastructure pipeline and open new opportunities in renewable energy and sustainable development.
