Cambodia and Lithuania Pledge Closer Ties During Foreign Minister’s Visit

PHNOM PENH, April 27, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Lithuania have agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, education and other key sectors following an official visit by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys to Phnom Penh.

Budrys visited Cambodia from April 24 to 25 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn. During the trip, he held talks with Prime Minister Hun Manet and met several ministers to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation.

The Cambodian government described the visit as a “significant milestone” in relations, marking a new chapter in ties between the two countries.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to boosting political engagement and practical cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, education and people to people links.

A foreign ministry statement noted that bilateral trade has been growing and said further investment would be encouraged in agriculture, tourism, digital development and green energy.

Cambodia also thanked Lithuania for its contributions to global demining efforts, urging continued support as the country works toward becoming mine free by 2030.

Talks also covered regional and global issues, with both sides expressing support for multilateralism and a rules based international order.

On tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border, Cambodia reiterated its commitment to resolving disputes peacefully in line with international law.

Budrys thanked Sokhonn for the hospitality shown to his delegation and invited him to visit Lithuania in the near future.
