New $30 Million Rubber Plant Opens in Tbong Khmum to Drive Agro‑Industrial Growth
TBONG KHMUM, May 27, 2026 (KPT) — A new US$30 million rubber processing plant has opened in Cambodia’s Tbong Khmum province, marking a major step in the government’s push to expand agro‑industrial capacity and boost value‑added exports.
The facility, operated by KIMS Rubber (Cambodia), was inaugurated Tuesday under the presidency of Prime Minister Hun Manet. Registered in 2024, the company is a subsidiary of Guanda Industrial, an international agro‑industrial group active in commodities including rubber, cashew, cocoa, cassava, soybeans and sunflower oil.

Officials said the plant reflects Cambodia’s strategy to move beyond raw commodity exports and strengthen domestic processing. Built on a 15‑hectare site, it has capacity to process up to 100,000 tons of rubber annually. The project is expected to generate about 300 direct jobs and more than 50,000 indirect jobs across local communities and supply chains.
According to the company, the factory will produce international‑standard rubber products meeting European Union requirements for export markets, while also supplying raw materials for domestic tire manufacturing and other rubber‑based industries.
Tbong Khmum is one of Cambodia’s leading rubber‑producing provinces, with more than 88,000 hectares of plantations, many operated by smallholder farmers. Nationally, plantation area reached 448,051 hectares in 2025, up 5.3 percent from the previous year. Output rose 3.8 percent to 422,842 tons, generating about US$832.9 million in revenue.
Despite rising production, exports fell 12.3 percent year‑on‑year in 2025, underscoring the government’s drive to expand domestic processing capacity and strengthen Cambodia’s role in the global rubber value chain.
