Switzerland Reaffirms Support for Cambodia’s Development as Envoy Ends Term
PHNOM PENH, May 26, 2026 (KPT) — Switzerland has reaffirmed its support for Cambodia’s socio‑economic development, particularly in healthcare and human resources, during a farewell meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and outgoing Swiss Ambassador Pedro Zwahlen.
The talks at the Peace Palace on Tuesday marked the conclusion of Zwahlen’s diplomatic mission. The envoy described his tenure as an opportunity to gain deeper understanding of Cambodia’s history and culture, while noting steady progress in bilateral ties.

Zwahlen highlighted Switzerland’s longstanding assistance to Kantha Bopha hospitals, calling them a cornerstone of cooperation. He said Bern remained committed to backing Cambodia’s socio‑economic advancement and peaceful dispute resolution.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked Switzerland for its humanitarian and development contributions, stressing that healthcare and public welfare remain government priorities. He said both countries have significant potential to deepen collaboration in trade, investment, vocational training and economic development.
The prime minister also briefed the ambassador on recent Cambodia–Thailand border developments, reiterating commitment to peaceful settlement under international law. Zwahlen voiced support for the ceasefire and rules‑based solutions.
