PHNOM PENH, May 31, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia said Saturday it does not recognize any boundary line established through force or unilateral territorial claims by Thailand, calling on Bangkok to honor bilateral agreements aimed at safeguarding peace and stability along their shared frontier.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stressed that recent activities would not affect Cambodia’s legal rights or position regarding its international border.

Cambodia urged Thailand to respect commitments made under the Joint Statement of the 3rd General Border Committee (GBC) Special Meeting, saying adherence was vital to restoring mutual trust and confidence between the two neighbors.

The government underscored the importance of maintaining peace, stability, and good-neighborly relations in line with international law, the UN Charter, the ASEAN Charter, and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).

Cambodia reiterated that border issues must be resolved peacefully through dialogue, legal mechanisms, and bilateral cooperation — not unilateral actions.
