Russian Auto Giant GAZ Group Eyes Cambodia Investment in Automotive Sector
KAZAN, Russia, June 19, 2026 (KPT) – Russian automotive manufacturer GAZ Group is exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s automotive sector, citing the Kingdom’s strong economic growth and growing role in regional supply chains.
The interest was expressed during a meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and GAZ Group Export Director Dolgov Leonid on the sidelines of the ASEAN–Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan.

Leonid said GAZ Group, with nearly 90 years of industry experience, is seeking to expand its presence in Southeast Asia and views Cambodia as a promising destination. The company operates 15 manufacturing plants, exports vehicles to 43 countries and produces commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, ambulances and automotive components.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the company’s interest, highlighting Cambodia’s investor‑friendly policies and support mechanisms aimed at facilitating business growth. He encouraged GAZ Group to explore opportunities in automotive supply‑chain manufacturing to support its regional production network under the “Plus One Strategy,” which promotes diversification of operations across Southeast Asia.
The prime minister urged the company to continue discussions with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to further assess investment opportunities and expand its business presence in the Kingdom.
