Cambodia Eyes 100,000 Tons of Rice Exports to the Philippines
PHNOM PENH, June 19, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia expects to export around 100,000 tons of rice to the Philippines this year, driven by rising demand and stronger production capacity.
Industry officials say shipments have already reached 60,000 tons in the first half of 2026, putting the target within reach. Lay Chunhour, President of the Cambodia Rice Federation, noted that Cambodian rice continues to enjoy strong demand in key markets including the EU, China and Malaysia, while exports to the Philippines have grown sharply in recent years.

He attributed the positive outlook to favorable weather, expanded cultivation, improved drying facilities and government support.
Customs data show Cambodia exported nearly 569,000 tons of rice worth USD 327 million in the first five months of 2026 to 63 destinations. ASEAN countries remained the largest market, importing more than 208,000 tons, followed by China and Hong Kong with 162,000 tons, and Europe with 154,000 tons.
The Philippines is emerging as a major growth market, reflecting Cambodia’s broader push to diversify exports and strengthen its role in regional food security.
