Phnom Penh, June 27, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has reaffirmed that safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity, national independence and the welfare of its people remains the government’s highest priority, stressing that border disputes should be resolved through international law.

Speaking Saturday at an event marking National Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (MSME) Day in Phnom Penh, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said Cambodia was committed to defending its territory while pursuing negotiations through legal and diplomatic channels.

“If we resort to fighting, even after 30 years it would not be over,” he said, warning that prolonged conflict would only fuel further violence.

The prime minister emphasized that the government’s focus was on maintaining stability to preserve peace, strengthen the economy and avoid imposing additional hardship on the public.

His remarks come amid continued attention over Cambodia’s territorial issues, though he did not cite any specific dispute.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also pledged to intensify efforts against cyber-enabled fraud and online scams, describing the crackdown as part of a broader push to improve Cambodia’s international reputation.
