UK Pearson Edexcel Program Launched to Expand Cambodia’s International Education Standards
PHNOM PENH, May 6, 2026 (KPT) — Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron on Wednesday launched the United Kingdom’s Pearson Edexcel curriculum at Westline Education Group, marking a new step in Cambodia’s drive to strengthen internationally recognized education and human capital development.
The announcement came during celebrations for the group’s 18th anniversary, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Naron and Labour Minister Heng Sour.

The introduction of the Pearson Edexcel program represents a strategic move to equip Cambodian students with globally recognized qualifications, modern skills and stronger competitiveness in international education and labour markets.
The program, recognized in more than 100 countries, is expected to provide Cambodian students with broader opportunities to pursue higher education at leading universities in the UK, US, Australia and other developed countries.
Naron said the initiative supports the government’s Pentagonal Strategy Phase One, which places human capital development at the centre of Cambodia’s long term growth. He highlighted the importance of integrating educational technology, digital learning and artificial intelligence into modern curricula to help youth develop 21st century skills.
Abigail Fryer said the launch reflects growing educational cooperation between Cambodia and the UK. Labour Minister Sour added that the internationally recognized curriculum would help align Cambodia’s education system with evolving labour market demands.
