TOKYO, June 29, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and Japan have deepened bilateral trade cooperation through a business matching programme designed to expand digital commerce and boost Cambodian exports to the Japanese market, officials said Monday.

The Cambodia-Japan Digital Trade Promotion Business Matching Programme was held at the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) in Tokyo under the chairmanship of Chea Ratha, Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce.

Supported by the AJC and the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA), the initiative forms part of the ministry’s 2026 action plan to build digital capacity and promote Cambodian products globally via the CambodiaTrade.com platform.

The programme connected Cambodian manufacturers and exporters with Japanese buyers while highlighting e-commerce opportunities for #MadeInCambodia and #MadeByHer products. Japanese participants were introduced to the CambodiaTrade platform, learning how to register accounts and place orders directly through the digital marketplace.

Business matching sessions also enabled Cambodian enterprises to meet face-to-face with Japanese companies, explore partnerships, expand networks and increase the visibility of Cambodian products in Japan and beyond.

On the sidelines, Ratha led a delegation of ministry officials and private-sector representatives on study visits to major Japanese retailers and distribution networks. The delegation examined product display techniques, retail marketing strategies and consumer trends, while exchanging views with Japanese partners to further strengthen trade and investment ties.

The initiative reflects Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to leverage digital commerce to diversify exports, improve market access and deepen economic relations with Japan.
