PHNOM PENH, June 29, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) President Samdech Techo Hun Sen has reaffirmed the ruling party’s commitment to safeguarding Cambodia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and long-term peace, while pledging to pursue economic growth and improve living standards.

In a message marking the CPP’s 75th anniversary on June 28, Samdech Techo said the party would continue promoting justice, fairness and equality while advancing national development.

He stressed that the CPP remained committed to a foreign policy based on maintaining good relations with neighbouring countries through mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality and mutual benefit.

Referring to Cambodia’s border issues with Thailand, Hun Sen voiced support for the Royal Government’s efforts to resolve both land and maritime disputes peacefully, in line with international law, existing agreements, the ASEAN Charter and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.

He reiterated Cambodia’s position of rejecting borders established through force, occupation or unilateral claims, and opposed attempts to alter territorial status by creating “facts on the ground.”

Samdech Techo Hun Sen called for full implementation of the Joint Statement issued after the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee in December 2025.

He also endorsed the use of the compulsory conciliation mechanism under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) to seek a rules-based solution to overlapping maritime claims.

The CPP leader expressed support for enforcing Cambodia’s Law on Military Service, saying it would help cultivate disciplined citizens ready to defend the nation.

He urged Cambodians to strengthen self-reliance in response to an increasingly complex international environment, noting that resilience would underpin economic and social progress.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on citizens to remain united behind the Royal Government, support the armed forces, expand domestic production and prioritize the use of Cambodian-made products.
