Cambodia’s DPM Sun Chanthol Invites Chinese Investment in Green Energy, AI and Advanced Manufacturing
BEIJING, June 29, 2026 (KPT) – Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol has urged leading Chinese corporations to expand investment in Cambodia’s green energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced manufacturing sectors, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting high-value industries and accelerating the country’s industrial transformation.
The invitation came during separate meetings with senior executives of major Chinese companies following the successful conclusion of the Cambodia Investment Seminar in Beijing on Saturday.

Chanthol, who also serves as First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), highlighted opportunities in strategic sectors including hydropower, wind and solar energy, coal-fired power generation, transport infrastructure, petrochemical plants, oil refineries and fertilizer manufacturing.
Discussions also touched on emerging technologies such as AI and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), with both sides exploring cooperation to advance Cambodia’s digital economy and technological modernization. Chanthol welcomed the continued interest of Chinese firms and reaffirmed the CDC’s commitment to providing full facilitation and investor support under the country’s investment law.
He encouraged companies to conduct feasibility studies on green technology and advanced digital innovation projects, stressing that such investments would support Cambodia’s clean energy transition, strengthen industrial value chains, enhance local technical capacity and advance the development of the Cambodia–China Industrial and Technological Development Corridor.
