Cambodian Amanah Takaful Association expands Islamic financial inclusion through banking partnerships
PHNOM PENH, June 29, 2026 (KPT) – The Cambodian Amanah Takaful Association (CATA) is expanding access to Shariah-compliant financial services through partnerships with two of the country’s largest banks, aiming to promote financial inclusion and economic empowerment among Muslim communities, officials said Monday.
Registered under the Ministry of Interior, CATA said it seeks to bridge community needs with ethical, interest-free financial solutions while supporting long-term socio-economic development.

A key milestone was the signing of a memorandum of understanding with ABA Bank on April 6 to launch a mobile-integrated Hajj Fund programme and introduce an “Interest-Free Mode” on the ABA Mobile app, enabling users to manage savings in line with Islamic principles.
CATA has also partnered with ACLEDA Bank to implement a “RIBA Clearance” or Wealth Purification Programme, allowing customers to maintain interest-free accounts while directing residual interest from conventional banking into charitable projects.
Beyond banking, the association is rolling out community initiatives such as “My Community Mart,” which provides micro-business equipment to families, and “CATA AQUA Premium Water,” a social enterprise funding local welfare programmes.
“Our collaboration with major digital financial institutions and community leaders enables members to manage their finances with greater confidence and security,” said Sen Saman, CATA’s executive director. He added the goal was to build a sustainable, knowledge-based and resilient Muslim community through financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Led by board chairman Dr. Othsman Hassan, CATA said it will continue working with financial institutions and partners to expand inclusive services and create greater economic opportunities.
