PHNOM PENH, July 3, 2026 (AFP) – Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce has inaugurated a new distribution centre designed to boost market access for locally made products and support the growth of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Commerce Minister Cham Nimul presided over the opening of the Khmer Market MSME HUB in Tuol Pongro, Phnom Penh, on Friday.

The ceremony was attended by Singapore’s ambassador to Cambodia, senior government officials, representatives of the Cambodia Professional and Micro Enterprise Council (CPMEC), and business leaders.

Cham Nimul said the new hub would help Cambodian products reach consumers more efficiently, strengthen market linkages and encourage greater consumption of locally made goods.

She stressed the private sector’s vital role in building a stronger business ecosystem by connecting Cambodian products to domestic and international markets.

The minister also highlighted broader efforts to promote local products, including the #MadeInCambodia campaign, stronger consumer protection and product standards, and studies on establishing additional marketplaces and product aggregation centres to improve distribution networks and support exports.

During the event, CPMEC signed four memoranda of understanding with Smart Axiata, ZO Motors, SME Bank of Cambodia, and a partnership involving Baray Global Management Halal Park Cambodia and Global Food Mach Tech. The agreements aim to strengthen market connectivity through the new hub.

The Ministry of Commerce encouraged consumers to support Cambodian-made products through the #MadeInCambodia campaign, saying stronger domestic demand would help expand local businesses and contribute to economic growth.
