Cambodia advances Sihanoukville air cargo hub to boost logistics connectivity
PHNOM PENH, July 22, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia moved closer to positioning Sihanoukville as a regional logistics gateway after WorldBridge Group and Société Concessionnaire de l’Aéroport (SCA) signed a memorandum of understanding to study an air cargo and logistics hub at Sihanoukville International Airport, officials said Wednesday.
The MoU sets a framework for developing a modern facility to integrate air and maritime freight, strengthen supply chains and support Cambodia’s ambition to become a regional trade hub.

Dr. Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, called the partnership “an important milestone” in expanding logistics infrastructure through private investment.
“This project represents another step in strengthening Cambodia’s supply chain, particularly by linking air cargo and maritime transport networks,” he said.
Havannall said the proposed hub aligns with the government’s Pentagonal Strategy – Phase I, which prioritises economic diversification, competitiveness and improved transport connectivity. He added that greater private sector participation in civil aviation would help sustain growth, create jobs and promote socio‑economic development.
He thanked WorldBridge and SCA for their confidence despite global uncertainties, and pledged regulatory and technical support during feasibility studies and development.
“We stand ready to provide guidance to ensure air cargo transport develops sustainably, securely and safely while contributing to Cambodia’s economic development,” he said.
Once built, the hub is expected to improve multimodal freight efficiency, enhance air‑sea connectivity and reinforce Sihanoukville’s role as a strategic gateway for regional and international trade.
