PHNOM PENH, Feb 25, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and France are stepping up efforts to strengthen bilateral investment cooperation, with both sides eyeing the upcoming 20th Francophonie Summit in Phnom Penh as a platform for deeper economic engagement, officials said Tuesday.

Talks were held at the Council for the Development of Cambodia between Suon Sophal, Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Board, and Thomas Lam, French MP and president of the Cambodia–France Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Cambodian officials highlighted the government’s commitment to improving the investment climate through competitive incentives, infrastructure expansion, workforce development and structured dialogue with the European Union to boost investor confidence. They also encouraged stronger business-to-business engagement ahead of the summit, with plans to organize an investment forum as a key side event to attract French enterprises.

French representatives praised Cambodia’s rapid economic progress and pledged to encourage high-potential French companies to expand operations in sectors including agro-industry, finance, tourism, automotive and electronics, healthcare and logistics.
