PHNOM PENH, Jan 23, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has approved the use of nearly 600 hectares of land in Kampong Speu province for a dairy project under a partnership model involving the state, private sector and local communities.

The plan covers grass cultivation, corn planting and dairy cattle breeding for milk production. The decision was endorsed at an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by Hean Sahib, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and head of the Private Sector Development Working Group.

Sahib outlined the background of the land request and the coordinated efforts by relevant institutions that led to the approval. He urged ministries, including the Ministry of Environment, to review procedures carefully and ensure land use complies with government guidelines.

Officials said the project is expected to generate economic benefits, improve local livelihoods, attract further investment and strengthen agricultural production chains to meet domestic demand while enhancing resilience to external factors.
