Cambodia–Japan Trade Rises Nearly 12% as Exports Top $300 Million
PHNOM PENH, March 15, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia exported more than $300 million worth of goods to Japan in the first two months of 2026, with bilateral trade between the two countries climbing nearly 12 percent year on year, official data showed Monday.
The General Department of Customs and Excise said total trade reached $505 million from January to February. Cambodian exports rose 8.9 percent to $328 million, while imports from Japan increased 17.8 percent to $177 million.

Lim Heng, vice president of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, said the growth was partly driven by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which has boosted regional cooperation and eased trade flows.
Economist Hong Vannak of the Royal Academy of Cambodia added that strong diplomatic ties have sustained investor confidence, noting Japan’s long standing presence in retail and electronics projects, including AEON Mall Phnom Penh.
In 2025, Cambodia–Japan trade reached $2.53 billion, up 17 percent from 2024, reflecting the expanding economic partnership.
