Plug and Play makes first Cambodia investment, backing student super app Bamnang
PHNOM PENH, Mar. 25, 2026 (KPT) — Global venture capital firm Plug and Play has made its first investment in Cambodia, backing local startup Bamnang in a move seen as a milestone for the country’s digital economy.
Officials said Wednesday the investment underscores growing investor confidence in Cambodia’s startup ecosystem, as Plug and Play — one of the world’s most active early stage investors — expands its presence following the launch of its Cambodia platform in 2025.

Bamnang is a student focused “super app” that integrates accommodation services, education guidance and AI powered tools to help young people make informed decisions about their academic and career paths. The platform offers housing, mentorship, scholarships and career planning in one digital solution tailored to Cambodian youth.
Selected from Plug and Play’s accelerator program, Bamnang was chosen for its potential to address real challenges faced by students while offering scalable solutions for the region. “Bamnang has demonstrated strong potential to address real challenges faced by students while offering scalable solutions for the region,” said Jupe Tan, Managing Director of Plug and Play APAC.
With access to Plug and Play’s global network — including Silicon Valley and regional hubs in Asia Pacific — the startup is expected to expand beyond Cambodia and tap into international markets.
Bamnang’s CEO and co founder, Seng Rothsethamony, said the investment reflects growing recognition of Cambodian innovation. “This is not only a milestone for Bamnang, but also a signal that Cambodian innovation can compete internationally,” she said.
Beyond financial backing, the partnership will provide mentorship, market access and connections to global investors, helping accelerate Bamnang’s growth and product development. Analysts say the deal highlights Cambodia’s emergence as a new frontier for venture capital in Southeast Asia.
