Diesel Prices Surge in Cambodia Amid Middle East Crisis Despite Government Relief
PHNOM PENH, Mar. 26, 2026 (KPT) — Diesel prices in Cambodia jumped Thursday as global oil markets reeled from Middle East tensions, despite government efforts to shield consumers.
The ministries of Economy and Finance, Commerce, and Mines and Energy said diesel (10ppm) would retail at 7,100 riel ($1.77) per liter from Mar. 26, while gasoline (92) was set at 5,450 riel ($1.36).

Officials cited international benchmarks topping $90 per barrel for gasoline and $100 for diesel. To ease the burden, the government has scrapped import duties, cut the special tax on diesel, and lowered VAT from 10 percent to 4 percent.
Energy Minister Keo Rottanak said authorities were working with suppliers to secure stable flows. “We are doing everything possible to avoid shortages, as any disruption could have serious consequences,” he told reporters.
Despite rising costs, Cambodia has so far maintained steady supply — a factor officials say is vital to sustaining economic activity.
