Sophoan said he would continue reforms recommended in an independent review, including governance and leadership changes, to enhance ABC’s effectiveness and advocacy role. He expressed gratitude to outgoing council members and the secretariat team for their stewardship and support.

Outlining his vision, Sophoan set three priorities: promoting a responsible and ethical banking sector to strengthen public trust; building banker capabilities through continuous learning, technical excellence and ethical leadership; and fostering collaboration across the financial ecosystem to support national prosperity and sustainable growth.

He also pledged close cooperation with the National Bank of Cambodia and government partners to reinforce financial stability, resilience and inclusion. Officials said the new leadership reflects the sector’s determination to align with Cambodia’s broader economic development goals.
