Cambodian Premium Rice Expands Into Hong Kong Retail Market

PHNOM PENH, April 4, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has taken a major step in promoting its premium fragrant rice internationally, with a new distribution deal bringing the product to hundreds of retail outlets in Hong Kong and across the country.
The Ministry of Commerce said “Golden King” Cambodian jasmine rice is now available in more than 345 stores through a partnership between Amru Rice (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. and DFI Retail Group.
The rollout includes over 245 Wellcome supermarkets in Hong Kong and around 100 Lucky Supermarket branches nationwide, giving Cambodian exporters broader access to established consumer markets.
Cambodia’s Phka Rumduol variety, which has won the “World’s Best Rice” award seven times, most recently in 2025, continues to reinforce the country’s reputation for quality in global markets.

Officials said the expansion reflects government efforts to add value to agricultural exports and strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors.
The Ministry highlighted that the initiative supports its “Made in Cambodia” campaign, aimed at boosting the visibility and competitiveness of domestic products.
It added that the rice is sourced from farming communities using more sustainable practices, in line with growing global demand for environmentally responsible goods.

Commerce Minister Cham Nimul praised Amru Rice’s role in promoting high-quality exports, noting that the product carries the “Malys Angkor” certification mark, symbolizing national identity and adherence to international standards.
The government said it will continue encouraging exporters to build strong branding and expand into higher-value markets, while working with stakeholders to diversify exports and support long-term, sustainable growth in the sector.
