PHNOM PENH, April 7, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia is expanding investment in fiber-optic infrastructure to strengthen connectivity and support its transition to a digital economy, officials said Tuesday.

Hean Sahib, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, met with representatives from HyalRoute Communication Group and Cambodia Fiber Optic Communication Network, led by CEO Dana Dong, to review progress on existing projects and discuss the next phase of development.

The companies reaffirmed their commitment to extending Cambodia’s underground fiber-optic network and pledged continued support for the Ministry’s intranet system, following the completion of its first phase.

Officials said the expansion of digital infrastructure is critical to advancing Cambodia’s digital transformation, improving institutional connectivity and enabling more efficient public services nationwide.

The government underscored the importance of long-term partnerships with private sector players, stressing that sustained investment in high-quality digital infrastructure will boost competitiveness and attract technology-driven investment.
