Cambodia–China Martial Arts Collaboration to Produce Global Film
PHNOM PENH, April 29, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and China are expanding their cultural collaboration with plans to produce a short film showcasing their martial arts traditions for global audiences, officials said Wednesday.
The initiative will accompany the upcoming Cambodia–China Martial Arts Performance in Siem Reap, where Cambodian disciplines such as Bokator and Kun Khmer will be performed alongside Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi.

Vath Chamroeun, President of the Bokator Federation, said the film aims to present both countries’ martial arts heritage through a high quality international production designed to capture global interest and elevate cultural visibility.
He emphasized that martial arts are more than sport, representing cultural identity, history and diplomacy. Cambodia’s ancient martial arts, rooted in the Angkor era, remain a key element of its national heritage.
The performance, set at Bayon Temple, is expected to draw more than 1,000 spectators and forms part of broader efforts under the Cambodia–China Tourism Year to promote cultural exchange and tourism.
The film will serve as a powerful tool to showcase Cambodia’s cultural assets internationally, strengthen bilateral ties and position the country as a destination for cultural and heritage tourism.
