Cambodia Bans E Cigarettes and Shisha in Workplaces to Strengthen Public Health
PHNOM PENH, May 4, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has imposed a nationwide ban on the use, possession, production and storage of e cigarettes and shisha in workplaces, as authorities move to strengthen public health protections and workplace safety, officials said Monday.
The directive, issued by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, follows a government sub decree prohibiting electronic smoking devices and related chemicals across the country. Enterprises, companies and factories are required to strictly enforce the ban, including conducting inspections, confiscating prohibited items and raising awareness among workers.

Employers have been instructed to take disciplinary action against violators, with repeat offenses classified as serious misconduct under occupational safety regulations. Workers are prohibited from using, distributing or selling such products and are encouraged to report violations to authorities.
The measure is intended to maintain social order, protect public health and improve workplace safety standards, particularly in labour intensive sectors. The ban forms part of broader government efforts to curb vaping and shisha use, which authorities warn pose risks to health and safety.
