PHNOM PENH, May 11, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Singapore pledged Friday to deepen economic cooperation and expand collaboration in trade, investment and infrastructure as global economic uncertainty mounts, officials said.

The commitment was made during talks between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Aun Pornmoniroth and Singapore’s newly appointed ambassador to Phnom Penh, Steven Pang Chee Wee.

Pornmoniroth hailed the growing strength of bilateral ties, noting that cooperation in economy, finance, trade and investment has steadily expanded at both bilateral and regional levels. He said trade between the two countries had risen significantly in recent years and was expected to continue improving in 2026.

The deputy prime minister also briefed the ambassador on Cambodia’s socio‑economic situation and new priority measures aimed at mitigating global risks affecting economic activity and household livelihoods.

Chee Wee praised Cambodia’s efforts to maintain political stability and resilience, commending reforms that continue to attract investment and tourism. Both sides vowed to strengthen cooperation in key sectors including logistics, food security, rice trade, vocational training and employment.
