PHNOM PENH, May 25, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia is placing digital transformation and green development at the heart of its medium‑term economic strategy as the government seeks to modernize the economy and boost competitiveness.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s 2027–2029 fiscal framework, the plan calls for accelerated investment in digital infrastructure, public sector modernization and environmentally sustainable industries.

The Ministry said the strategy aligns with Cambodia’s long‑term vision of becoming a high‑income country by 2050 through innovation, technological advancement and stronger human capital development.

Key priorities include digital government reform, smart public administration systems and tax modernization. At the same time, the government aims to promote green growth by supporting renewable energy, sustainable industries, climate resilience and environmentally friendly investment projects.

The ministry said digital and green transformation will play an increasingly important role in attracting foreign direct investment and strengthening Cambodia’s position in regional supply chains.

Energy Minister Keo Rottanak recently announced that the government will invest at least US$10 million to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure nationwide as part of its push toward cleaner transport.

Currently, more than 63 percent of Cambodia’s electricity generation comes from clean sources such as hydropower and solar, with a target of at least 70 percent by 2030.
