PHNOM PENH, July 10, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s exports to the United States topped $7 billion in the first half of 2026, rising 29.8 percent from a year earlier, customs data showed Wednesday, underscoring the resilience of the country’s trade sector.

Figures from the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) put total bilateral trade at $7.48 billion between January and June. Cambodian exports accounted for $7 billion, while imports from the US reached $307 million, up 86.4 percent.

Cambodia’s main shipments to the US included garments, travel goods, bicycles and other consumer products. American exports to Cambodia comprised vehicles, machinery, jewellery, cosmetics, electrical equipment and electronics.

Lim Heng, vice president of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, said exports to the US had shown strong momentum but voiced concern over Washington’s new tariff measures. “We are watching closely whether the 10 percent tariff line being applied globally will affect Cambodian goods entering the US market,” he told local media.

Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, first vice president of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, said Phnom Penh retained scope to negotiate with Washington. He stressed that Cambodia would rely on the framework of its existing trade agreements to ensure future tariff rates did not exceed the 19 percent ceiling already agreed under bilateral arrangements.

In 2025, Cambodia‑US trade reached $13.14 billion, up 29.2 percent from the previous year. Cambodian exports were valued at $12.73 billion, rising 28.5 percent, while imports from the US stood at $417 million, up 57.8 percent.

The latest figures reflected continued investment in export‑oriented industries and the benefits of preferential trade schemes, including the EU’s Everything But Arms initiative and US market access. They added that Cambodia would continue to push for diversified exports and stronger trade ties with major partners.
