PHNOM PENH, May 12, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has launched a nationwide Live Teaching program aimed at reducing disparities in education quality between urban and remote areas through digital learning and real‑time online instruction, officials said Monday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron announced the initiative during a ceremony at Indradevi High School, describing it as a strategic step toward modernizing Cambodia’s education system and promoting equal learning opportunities.

The Ministry of Education said the platform enables students across the country to access standardized lessons delivered by experienced teachers, helping bridge gaps in quality between cities and rural provinces.

Naron stressed that successful reform requires strong government support, quality infrastructure, effective school leadership, teacher professionalism and student commitment. He said the program would also strengthen supplementary learning for Grade 12 students preparing for national exams and expand innovative teaching methods through digital video content and remote platforms.

Officials said the ministry plans to cooperate with the Royal University of Phnom Penh and New Generation Schools to improve secondary school content, while encouraging partnerships with private schools and promoting technical education in digital technology and computer science.

Naron also urged teachers and students to use artificial intelligence tools to support learning and strengthen foreign language skills, saying digital technology would be a key driver of Cambodia’s future human resource development.

The initiative reflects Cambodia’s broader education reform and digital transformation agenda as the country seeks to boost workforce competitiveness and digital readiness.
