Cambodia’s Cabinet assesses economic outlook and online fraud measures

PHNOM PENH, Mar. 13, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Cabinet convened Friday to review the country’s economic prospects for 2026 and strengthen measures against online fraud, officials said.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet at Peace Palace, covered four agenda items, including a draft law to combat online scams and a progress report on refugee issues.
Officials said ministers examined the growing threat of technology-based fraud and discussed future steps to bolster prevention, enforcement and public awareness.
The draft law under review is expected to provide stronger legal tools to curb online scams, which have become a regional concern.
Another key agenda item was an assessment of Cambodia’s economic outlook for 2026. The Cabinet discussed risks linked to shifting geopolitics, global market volatility and regional competition, as well as domestic challenges such as infrastructure and regulatory reform.
The review aims to guide government policy responses to safeguard stability and sustain growth.
Officials said the discussion reflects Cambodia’s broader strategy to balance economic resilience with social protection and security in a changing global environment.
