Cambodia promotes safe, ethical AI use on Internet Safety Day

PHNOM PENH, Feb 18, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to responsible digital development as senior officials marked Internet Safety Day under the theme “Safe, Ethical and Responsible Use of AI.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha presided over the event at the Royal University of Agriculture, which drew some 2,500 participants including students, educators, civil society groups and industry leaders.

Speaking on behalf of Agriculture Minister Dith Tina, Secretary of State Has Sareth said promoting online safety and ethical AI use was vital to protecting children and youth while advancing Cambodia’s digital transformation.

He highlighted the ministry’s Digital Transformation Strategy 2024–2028, aimed at integrating innovation into agriculture to boost productivity and improve services.

Officials stressed that AI adoption must be accompanied by education, digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness. They pledged continued cooperation across ministries, universities and the private sector to strengthen research, training and public trust.

The campaign reflects Cambodia’s wider effort to balance technological progress with responsible governance, ensuring digital tools support inclusive and sustainable development.
