GENEVA (Dec. 18, 2025) — Members of the Cambodian community in Switzerland rallied Tuesday outside the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, urging global action to end Thailand’s military aggression against Cambodia.

Gathering at the Broken Chair Square, demonstrators — joined by Swiss and Italian students — condemned attacks on civilians, infrastructure and cultural heritage sites, including the UNESCO-listed Preah Vihear Temple.

Protesters called on the United Nations and the international community to press Thailand to honor the ceasefire and resolve disputes through diplomacy and international law.

Cambodia’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva, In Dara, praised the demonstrators, saying their voices carried beyond the square. He described the rally as a stand for peace, justice and Cambodia’s sovereignty, rooted in law and human dignity.

Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence reported continued Thai strikes on Dec. 18, including artillery and air assaults in areas under the Fourth and Fifth Military Regions. Officials said the attacks involved heavy weapons and violated Cambodia’s sovereignty and international law.

The Ministry of Interior said nearly 450,000 people have been displaced across eight provinces as of Dec. 17. Since Dec. 7, the violence has killed 17 civilians and injured 77, forcing 134,578 families — including nearly 230,000 women and more than 130,000 children — to flee homes in Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Koh Kong and Kampot.
