PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 9, 2025) — Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation convened an urgent diplomatic briefing Tuesday with 30 foreign missions and representatives from three international organizations, including the United Nations, to address escalating clashes along the Cambodia–Thailand border.

The briefing followed what officials described as acts of aggression by the Thai military in Military Regions 4 and 5, which Cambodia said violated the ceasefire and Joint Declaration signed between the two countries. The attacks, beginning Dec. 7, have continued for three consecutive days.

Lt. Gen. Rath Dararoth, Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defence, delivered a detailed report on the situation. The Cambodian Liaison Group also facilitated participation by the ASEAN Observation Team via Zoom.

Officials reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to respecting and implementing the ceasefire and all previously reached agreements, stressing that disputes must be resolved peacefully under international law.

Cambodia called on Thailand to honor the Oct. 26 Joint Declaration, witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and urged the international community to press for restraint and accountability.
