PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept.05,2025)— Cambodia and Belarus are preparing to deepen bilateral trade and investment cooperation through sector-specific agreements and expanded institutional dialogue, officials said Thursday during a video conference between the two governments.

Cambodian Secretary of State Tekreth Kamrang met with Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Industry Andrei Konyushko to discuss preparations for the fifth meeting of the Joint Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation. Both sides agreed to accelerate work on memorandums of understanding across key sectors, including agriculture, civil aviation, finance, education, and science and technology.

The meeting also marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening traditional ties and exploring new areas of collaboration, particularly in trade and industrial development.

Cambodia’s exports to Belarus remain modest, totaling just over $111,000 in 2023, primarily in cereals and light vehicles. However, both governments view the Joint Committee framework as a strategic platform to expand trade volumes and attract investment. Kamrang welcomed Belarus’s appointment of Konyushko as co-chair of the committee and emphasized the importance of sustained engagement to unlock new opportunities.

The two sides agreed to continue monitoring progress and coordinate preparations for the next committee meeting at a mutually convenient time.
