Cambodian Cashew Nuts Hit 16,000+ Family Mart Stores in Japan as Mirarth Expands Processing Footprint
OSAKA, Japan (Sept. 3, 2025) — Cambodian cashew nuts are now available in more than 16,320 Family Mart convenience stores across Japan, marking a major milestone in Cambodia’s agricultural export strategy and deepening commercial ties with Japanese retail giants.

The announcement was made during a courtesy meeting in Osaka between Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul and Taniguchi Kentaro, president and CEO of Mirarth Energy Solutions Inc., alongside representatives from Mirarth Holdings Inc. and ITOCHU Corporation. The collaboration is part of a broader effort to promote high-quality Cambodian cashew products in Japan and other international markets.
Minister Nimul praised Mirarth and its partners for their “tireless efforts” in enhancing Cambodia’s processing capacity and meeting international standards. She also encouraged the company to expand into other Geographical Indication (GI) products, citing the potential for broader agricultural diversification.

Mirarth’s cashew processing operations in Cambodia began in 2021 and have since scaled up significantly. By late 2024, the company had increased its annual processing capacity to 1,500 tons, up from just 300 tons in its first year. The firm also launched a biomass fuel initiative using cashew shells, with pilot production underway in Kampong Thom Province.
During the meeting, Kentaro reaffirmed Mirarth’s commitment to working closely with Cambodia’s Export Promotion Task Force and outlined plans to expand the cashew supply chain in Kampong Thom. He emphasized the strategic partnership with Family Mart — a core business of ITOCHU Corporation — as key to unlocking further market access for Cambodian agricultural products.

The meeting also celebrated the signing of a Letter of Intent between the Ministry of Commerce and Mirarth Holdings, along with a Memorandum of Understanding involving five partner companies. The agreements were formalized during Cambodia National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, held on July 5.
The rollout of Cambodian cashew nuts in Japan’s largest convenience store chain signals growing consumer confidence and positions Cambodia as a rising player in Asia’s premium agricultural export market.
