TAFTAC Showcases Cambodia’s GFT Growth at ASEAN Textile Roundtable in Shanghai
SHANGHAI (Sept. 2, 2025) — Cambodia’s Textile, Apparel, Footwear & Travel Goods Association (TAFTAC), represented by Deputy Secretary General Kaing Monika, joined the ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX) Roundtable Discussion at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2025.

The session, titled “Opportunities in ASEAN in a Changing Trade Environment,” convened regional industry leaders to explore strategies for navigating shifting global trade dynamics. Delegates from ASEAN member states also spotlighted investment opportunities in their respective textile and apparel sectors.
TAFTAC underscored Cambodia’s strong export performance in the garment, footwear and travel goods (GFT) industries, which recorded $7.38 billion in exports in the first half of 2025 — a 22 percent year-on-year increase. Key markets included the United States, European Union, Canada and Japan, with garments alone accounting for $5.28 billion in export value.

Monika emphasized Cambodia’s readiness to welcome sourcing and investment partners seeking resilient supply chains and regional integration. He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable growth, regional collaboration and long-term competitiveness in the GFT sector.
Cambodia’s GFT industry remains the country’s largest foreign exchange earner, employing more than 900,000 workers across 1,600 factories.
