PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept. 3, 2025) — Cambodia generated more than $31 million in revenue from ticket sales to the Angkor Archaeological Park between January and August, according to a report released Sept. 1 by Angkor Enterprise, the state agency responsible for managing ticketing.

The park welcomed 669,619 international visitors during the eight-month period, marking a 2.7% increase compared to the same timeframe last year. Revenue rose 2.4% year-over-year, totaling $31,069,743.

Khiev Thy, president of the Angkor Tour Guide Association, said tourist numbers dipped in May and June but rebounded in July and August, coinciding with summer holidays in several European countries.

“The condition of international tourists is stable while the number of tourists rises,” he said.

Ny Phally, secretary-general of the Ministry of Tourism, attributed the growth to government policies aimed at revitalizing the sector.

“Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have prepared strategies to adapt to the tourism sector,” he said. “Whether facing COVID or other regional challenges, our policy is to tolerate and turn problems into opportunities.”

According to ministry data, Cambodia received more than 3.3 million tourists in the first quarter of 2025, a 6.2% increase from the same period in 2024. The country earned approximately $3 billion from tourism during that time, with international visitors accounting for 9.1% of arrivals.

Officials project Cambodia will welcome about 7.9 million international tourists by the end of the year, potentially generating $5 billion in economic revenue.
