PHNOM PENH,(Aug. 25, 2025)— The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce met Monday with representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to discuss key economic challenges and investment priorities amid shifting global trade dynamics.

The meeting, held at the Wing Tower in Phnom Penh, was chaired by Oknha Kith Meng, president of the Chamber and head of the Government–Private Sector Forum’s coordination committee. He welcomed Kenichiro Kashiwase, IMF mission chief for Cambodia, along with IMF technical experts and private sector representatives from the garment, footwear, travel goods, logistics, agriculture and taxation sectors.

Discussions focused on four key areas raised by the IMF: the direct and indirect impact of U.S. tariffs on Cambodia; sector-specific risks in manufacturing, energy and logistics; export competitiveness and investor confidence; and medium-term policy recommendations. The Chamber also presented private sector feedback on business conditions and reiterated support for the government’s pro-growth, win-win policy agenda under the seventh legislature.

The IMF is currently conducting its Article IV consultations with Cambodian counterparts to assess macroeconomic developments and policy frameworks. Kashiwase pledged continued technical assistance and collaboration to help Cambodia’s private sector navigate future challenges.
