Cambodia launches digital IDPoor portal to strengthen social protection
PHNOM PENH, Mar. 25, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has launched a new digital platform to improve the identification of poor households and strengthen the delivery of social protection services nationwide, officials said Tuesday.
The Ministry of Planning introduced the IDPoor Portal on the Digital Social Protection Platform at a ceremony in Phnom Penh, attended by German Ambassador Stefan Messerer and Australian Ambassador Derek Yip, and presided over by Planning Minister Bin Troachhey.

Germany has supported the IDPoor programme since 2006 and, together with Australia, backs the wider platform through the Improving Social Protection and Health programme implemented by GIZ. “The integration of IDPoor into the Digital Social Protection Platform represents a significant milestone towards a more coordinated and effective public system,” Messerer said.
The new system enables faster registration, verification and updating of household data, improving accuracy, transparency and efficiency. It also enhances interoperability between government databases, supports data driven policy decisions and strengthens Cambodia’s ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
The launch reflects Cambodia’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at reducing poverty, improving livelihoods and promoting inclusive development.
